EW - IO - Cyber - EMS Operations

Convergence and Synergies

Hotel Grand Chancellor Adelaide, South Australia, 18-19 August 2014

Introduction

The Australian Chapter of the AOC will host its 2014 biennial AOC Australasia Convention in Adelaide at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Adelaide on 18-19 August.

The Australian Chapter Convention is the only combined Electronic Warfare, Information Operations, electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) and Cyber Operations convention in Australia.

Themes and Subjects

Join us as we look at the changing face of warfare in the 21st century including:

  • The evolving EM threat environment and corresponding EW technology advances
  • Increased Coalition operations and dependence upon third country partnerships
  • The move from federated EW systems to integrated, network centric solutions
  • Strategies for increased efficiencies and effectiveness in EW solutions
  • Changing relationships and new players (Cyber / IO / Comms / ISR / EA)
  • Emerging Cyber NCW and software defined radio security and protection issues
  • Procurement strategies to meet technology refresh rates
  • New manned and unmanned maritime patrol capability

Call for Technical Papers

Each convention includes a significant (2 to 3 technical streams) technical program looking at new and innovative products as well as research and development in related fields.

Of particular interest, this convention we will look at the convergence of EW, IO and Cyber especially as it applies to the concept of the Electro-Magnetic Spectrum (EMS) as a war fighting domain. The term Electronic Warfare is used to cover an increasingly wider range of techniques to protect our forces, electronic systems and operations within the EMS, while denying the adversary the use of the spectrum. Cross domain operations between the EW, IO and cyber communities including technology developments and capabilities together with an understanding of strategic policy is essential if Australia is going to meet the current and emerging challenges of warfare in the EMS.

Technical papers are now invited for the Convention and papers which address aspects of the theme of "eWarfare - a Changing Paradigm, the Changing Face of Warfare in the 21st Century" are especially welcome. Examples of possible topics (not exhaustive) include:

  • EW/IO in a Networked Environment
  • Current practices in EW/IO/Cyber
  • EW and Cyber Convergence
  • Tactical Cyber/CNO (Computer Network Operations)/Crypto Capabilities and Technologies
  • Evolving ISTAR/EW Capabilities
  • Integrated Mission Planning
  • ADF evolution of Electronic Attack (EA)
  • Emerging Technologies for EW
  • EW and IO System Architectures for the Future Threat Environment
  • EW in an Asymmetric Environment
